Tyler Panhuyzen is the Founder and Director of Performance at The Greater Toronto Racquet Academy, where he sets the standard for all of the academy’s programming and a staff of more than ten coaches.
Players developed by Tyler have ranked inside the top five in Ontario juniors and represented Team Ontario at the Canadian National Championships. They have reached the finals of National Selections, won the Ontario Provincial Doubles Championship, and finished first in the Ontario U10 points race. Others have gone on to play varsity tennis at universities in Canada and the United States.
At 27 he was appointed Director of Performance at Scarborough Winter Tennis Club, one of the largest indoor facilities in Ontario, where he built the junior high performance program and the adult program from nothing. He earned both Tennis Canada Club Pro 2 and Coach 2 certification before 25, at the time one of only two active coaches in Canada to hold both at that age. He is also a Pickleball Canada certified instructor.
Before starting his own academy in 2021, he spent five years coaching at Unionville Tennis Club, where he grew up playing and still competes as one of the captains of the club’s team in ICTA Majors, the league’s top division. He went on to lead programs at Angus Glen Tennis Centre, The Donalda Club, and Tennis Clubs of Canada, working alongside some of the leading coaches in the country.
As a junior he competed at closed provincials, nationals, and on the ITF circuit, winning the 2013 LOSSA Junior Boys’ Singles Championship and reaching the semi-finals of the 2015 U18 National Selections.
The standard doesn’t change from group to group, from beginners to nationally ranked players. The years a junior spends in this sport are formative ones, and Tyler treats being part of that as something he’s been trusted with.

Ben has coached at Toronto Racquets since 2022 and has seven years of coaching experience in total. As a player, Ben has 17 years of competitive experience in OTA, ITF and Tennis Canada tournaments. His junior career was highlighted by a sixth-place finish at the 2024 U18 Indoor Provincial Championships and the 2022 OFSAA Open Mixed Doubles title. He now plays for the University of Toronto Varsity Blues men’s team, where he won gold at the 2025 OUA Championships and was named a Tournament All-Star at the 2026 U Sports National Championships.

Ryan is a Tennis Canada certified instructor with six years of coaching experience. He competed on the men’s tennis team at Spring Arbor University from 2020 to 2024, graduating with a degree in Business Administration and a minor in Marketing. Four years of college tennis developed his game through strong coaching and steady competition, and taught him lessons he carries into every part of life. Just as valuable were the lifelong friendships he made on that team, which he still keeps up today.
After a year working at Bauer Hockey, Ryan shifted his focus to education. He is preparing to apply to teachers’ college, and brings the same passion for teaching to his work as a substitute teacher, in youth ministry at St. Bonaventure, and on court as a coach at Toronto Racquets.

Owen is a Tennis Canada certified instructor with three years of coaching experience. He has worked with players of all ages and skill levels, from beginners to nationally ranked juniors.

Justin is a Tennis Canada certified instructor with five years of playing experience. In high school competition, he reached the TDSB city final. He also brings a background in high-performance sport beyond tennis, winning bronze at the Ontario Volleyball Championships and finishing fifth in Canada.
Justin began coaching this past summer. With juniors, he’s passionate about creating an atmosphere where players have fun and build a lasting love for the sport. With adults, he focuses on building on their passion for tennis, sharpening their skills and their understanding of the game.
The Greater Toronto Racquet Academy was built around a simple idea: every player deserves to be coached with purpose.
Our standards come from high-performance tennis. We believe in attention to detail, purposeful training, individual development, strong fundamentals, and a commitment to constant improvement. These principles shape everything we do—from our high-performance programs to our beginner lessons, adult programs, and camps.
We don’t believe high performance should be reserved for a select few. It is the standard we bring to everyone.
Whether you’re picking up a racquet for the first time, learning to compete, or pursuing your highest level of tennis, you are part of the same academy and the same culture of development.
See you on the courts.
